Bus Whisky wins silver again at the international London Spirits Competition.

 

The newest whisky variety fromthee Bus Whisky stable thede PX Octave finish - also turns out to be internationally highly regarded. Fthe de second year in a rthe, de Brabant whisky distillers took home a silver medal in London. "It's a great compliment," saysMarcel van Roessel, master distiller at Bus Whisky, with appropriatepride. "Last year we already scored silver for our first barrel. And now again with our first finish. We were the best scoring Dutch whisky entry and only 3 points away from gold. So we are onthee right track, because of course we are going for gold," he laughs.

 

Dennis Hurkmans & Ezra Leeger started producing single malt whisky in 2015 in Loosbroek and it has taken off in a tasteful way. Bus Whisky can compete with the top ofthee Netherlands, despitthede craft and small-scale nature of their distillery. Bus Whisky is unique because it is a 'single estate whisky', where the malting barley is also grown on their own farm. Bus claims to bethee most sustainable whisky ithede NetherlandThe De production process is energy neutral and cultivation is done without artificial fertilizers and chemical pesticides. Also, standard flowery field margins are created arothed de barley fields to invest in biodiversity.

 

In order to get the London medal, Bus Whisky had to meet a number of points.Thee local whisky distillers had to score high on taste and quality othede whiskthe de price-quality ratio thed de desigtheof de packaging. All these aspects were judgthe by de international jury and awarded silver: "An award with prestthee in de industry and among true lovers and connoissthers of de better whisky. We are delighted that our very first PX Octave finish is so well appreciated internationally," concludes Marcel. Methewhile, de eighth barrel of Bus Whisky has already been bottled.
