09 July 2020
Why a Dutch whisky tour?
Travel4Reasons has been offering themed travel to Britain and Ireland for over fifteen years, with whisky tours being one of the more popular trips. Due tothee corona crisis, owner Marc Tolsma saw his sales completely evaporate. It forced him to rethink his offerings. 'Travel to Britain fell silent durinthede period of Corona. That's why I decided to look for it closer to home. To my surprise, a whisky tour the de Netherlands did not exist until now. And that while there are magnificent distilleries to be found in beautiful surroundings.'
Where is the Dutch whisky trip going?
I myself made the trip alongthee various distilleries that have been part othede Dutch Whisky Tour frthe de start: from Het Nationaal Jenever Museum in Schiedam, Cley Distillery in Rotterdam, BUS Whisky in Loosbroek (Brabant), distillery De Bronckhorst in Zelhem (Achterhoek) and grain distillery De IJsvogel in Arcen (Limburg) to distillery Sculte in Ootmarsum and Kalkwijck Distillers in Vroomshoop (both in Twente). Everywhthee de craftsmanship is evident.
Bus Whisky
Bus Whisky is the first specialized Dutch whisky distillery with grains from their own farm. Master Distiller Master van Roessel and his colleagues speak with passion and enthusiasm about their profession and are happy to show you everything from grain to drink. In addition, Bus Whisky has a fantastic tasting room where you can eat deliciously and sister company De Heische Hoeve has 28 hotel rooms and camper spaces where you can also pitch a tent if you don't want to drive home.
